About UNA Tanzania
The United Nations Association of Tanzania is one of the oldest Civil Society Organizations in the country registered in 1964.
The United Nations Association of Tanzania (UNA Tanzania) is dedicated to localizing the universal principles of the UN Charter, peace, security, human rights, and sustainable development, by turning them into practical, community-driven solutions that create real impact across the country.
We are driven by a vision of an engaged, accountable, and inclusive society, where everyone, especially those in underserved communities, including women, youth, and persons with disabilities, has the opportunity and agency to shape sustainable development and uphold accountability at all levels.
Areas of Expertise
The United Nations Association of Tanzania is one of the oldest Civil Society Organizations in the country registered in 1964. It’s office is located in Mikocheni street, Mikocheni B, Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. The organization is entirely devoted to supporting the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, promoting public awareness and understanding of the activities of United Nations and its agencies. Moreover, it strives for the recognition of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms throughout the Tanzania and the World.

Our Mission is to Mobilize for action, promote inclusiveness, enhance accountability and to ensure that no one is left behind in the implementation and achievement of SDGs in Tanzania.
UNA Tanzania Organization Flow
Based on its processes, UNA Tanzania consist of bodies, namely Annual General Meeting, the Executive Committee and the Secretariat.
The Annual General Meeting
This is the highest decision-making body of the association. Delegation to the AGM is made of five (5) voting representatives of each official branch.
The Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is made up of 11 members. Nine (9) members are elected and two (2) are appointed officials. The committee is led by a Chairperson.
The Secretariat
Led by the Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General. They lead a team of Admin, Program and Support Staff. These are all appointed (employed) officials (plus volunteers and interns)
